{"id":1087,"date":"2013-06-02T13:01:22","date_gmt":"2013-06-02T19:01:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theloungeisback.wordpress.com\/?p=1087"},"modified":"2014-01-10T17:55:27","modified_gmt":"2014-01-10T17:55:27","slug":"new-york-to-restrict-candy-flavoured-cigars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pepesnonsmokingpartytimelounge.com\/?p=1087","title":{"rendered":"New York to restrict candy-flavoured cigars?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRLJkr91yNRVlFvE-CSvHVfxFOvJHOz-fmSCHNDQpMr1fl9pxe8\" width=\"283\" height=\"178\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Candy-flavoured cigarettes have long been banned, but candy-flavoured cigars are still legal.<\/p>\n<p>The American Cancer Society is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/ny-cancer-society-warns-sweet-smokes-like-chocolate-cigars-blueberry-cigs-targeting-youth\/2013\/05\/31\/fe1c986e-ca2f-11e2-9cd9-3b9a22a4000a_story.html\">pushing to limit the sales<\/a> of candy-flavoured tobacco products &#8212; cigars, chewing tobacco and loose tobacco leaf for water pipes &#8212; mostly because it&#8217;s well-known that these sweetened products are marketed not-so-subtly to teens. These sugary tobacco products are also suspiciously cheap (as in trying to be the gateway tobacco for kids.).<\/p>\n<p>Honestly, I didn&#8217;t realize they made candy-flavoured chewing tobacco. New York is one the leading states in fighting tobacco. The state&#8217;s tobacco taxes are among the highest in the nation and New York City has the toughest anti-smoking laws in the country (partly because Mayor Michael Bloomberg is a health nut and anti-smoking zealot; I&#8217;m not sure I&#8217;m 100 % comfortable with all his proposals and tactics &#8212; such as trying to ban large sodas.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Candy-flavoured cigarettes have long been banned, but candy-flavoured cigars are still legal.
