North Korea, for some reason, is entertaining people by featuring a chimp at the\u00a0Pyongyang Zoo, that smokes.<\/p>\n

She\u00a0doesn’t just smoke, either. She\u00a0smokes an entire pack of cigarettes a day. That poor chimp. Hooked on nicotine, probably getting sick.<\/p>\n

And those assholes in North Korea — letting him do it.<\/p>\n

It wasn’t something that happened by accident, either. The North Koreans actually taught the chimp how to smoke cigarettes.<\/p>\n

From the Washington Post:<\/a><\/p>\n

When she puffs on a cigarette, onlookers \u201croar with laughter,\u201d as the Guardian reported<\/a> recently. \u201cHer trainer seemed to be encouraging the smoking and prompted her to touch her nose, bow thank you and do a simple dance.\u201d She appears to have been taught\u00a0to use a lighter. On Wednesday,\u00a0an Associated Press photographer caught Dallae on camera as she ignited\u00a0a\u00a0fresh cigarette from a smoldering\u00a0butt.<\/p>\n

Pyongyang Zoo officials said the chimpanzee, whose name when translated from Korean means Azalea, does not inhale the smoke. (Smoking remains a popular habit among North Korean men, with nearly half \u2014\u00a046 percent \u2014 estimated\u00a0to\u00a0smoke daily by World Lung Foundation\u2019s\u00a0Tobacco Atlas<\/a>. North Korean women only\u00a0smoke at a rate of 2 percent.)<\/p>\n

Animal rights advocates saw that as a weak defense and condemned zoo for teaching the chimp to light up. \u201cHow cruel to willfully addict a chimpanzee to tobacco for human amusement,\u201dsaid PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in a statement<\/a> to Time magazine.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Wow, I’m actually agreeing with PETA. I generally don’t really respect PETA, but I’m actually agreeing with them.<\/div>\n
This zoo is so backward that originally, it only featured 50 badgers. Today, it actually has a dog exhibit. A dog exhibit with German shepherds.<\/div>\n
German shepherds … in a zoo. And a chimp taught to smoke. Could this country actually be any more weird?<\/div>\n
The North Koreans claim the chimp doesn’t actually inhale the smoke. Well, there’s photos posted on the Washington Post that clearly show a chimp … inhaling.<\/div>\n
I guarantee they’re making that chimp sick.\u00a0Grrrr, stupid, cruel people.<\/div>\n
